INAUGURAL DINNER
18 August 2006 - The inaugural dinner of Inveraray Burns Club - "A nicht wi' Burns" - when President Jim McMillan
welcomed 54 members.
The haggis was addressed by Jim and after a first class meal was served, the company were entertained to music by
Bletherskyte from Ayrshire and members of award winning Inveraray Pipe Band.
Club members Ally Duncan, Alastair Nicolson and Kenny
Stark and Alastair's wife Sheila, then entertained the company
with songs and recitations. The whole company ended the
night with the Star of Rabbie Burns and Auld Lang Syne.
ST.ANDREW'S NIGHT
Saturday 2nd December 2006 - Inveraray Burns Club
celebrated their first St Andrew's Night on Saturday in
Brambles Restaurant, Inveraray and welcomed a very special
visitor.
Over 50 members heard Angus Middleton, President of the
Robert Burns World Federation, having given a short history
of the Federation, present a toast to Inveraray Burns Club in
which he spoke of his delight at visiting the newest Burns Club
in the world and his pride at seeing such a vibrant and
enthusiastic club.
The evening had begun with an excellent traditional Scottish meal followed by music from Fyne Folk and the pipes
and drum from some members of Inveraray Pipe Band. The toast to St Andrew & Scotland was proposed by club
secretary Kenny Stark and the toast to Inveraray by Jim McCulloch of Argyll Caravan Park.
Club members Neil Armour, Michael Kidd and Alastair Chrystal along with Jenny Cowan from Galloway and local
fiddler Duncan Crawford then provided thrilling entertainment in the form of a mix of favourite recitations and songs.
The evening closed with the whole company having sung the Star of Rabbie Burns and Auld Lang Syne.
